This spring, the official Facebook page for the Government’s ‘Fire Kills’ campaign have created the hashtag #TickTockTest. But why?

The pledge to test your smoke alarms

The significance of this powerful campaign is to urge every homeowner to test their smoke alarm when they turn their clocks forward on the 29th of March.

Did you know?

  • You are expected to test your fire alarm AT LEAST once a week to ensure the batteries are still working.
  • A smoke detector should be present on every level of your home.

FIRE KILLS. YOU CAN PREVENT IT.

The number of deaths continues to rise each year due to accidental house fires. Kent fire & Rescue can confirm that around 30 children alone are killed due to house fires each year.

Many of you will now take the time to give your home a spring clean, so use this time to also test your smoke alarm. Checking it weekly can save lives.

Think of it this way: If you ensure that all of the doors and windows are locked to prevent burglary, why are you not checking the smoke detector to prevent death in an accidental house fire?

The threat is just as real. Fire slowly destroys everything. It starts with your lungs and ends with your home. Click on the button below for more information on our smoke alarms. Or fill out the form below for a free home security review.
