In April 2015 during the run-up to the General Election, Kent – and, in particular, Ramsgate and Broadstairs, Dover, Sandwich, Cliffsend and the Cliftonville area of Margate – will become the focus of a lot of attention from the rest of the country.

Nigel Farage, an MEP for South East England and leader of UKIP, has chosen South Thanet as the constituency where he will try for the final time to become a Member of Parliament.  As a result, the eyes of the media will be firmly fixed upon his door-knocking and local hustings.

It is also the seat where comedian, Al Murray, sometimes better known as The Pub Landlord, will compete against him on behalf of FUKP, the Free United Kingdom Party.

This is only going to make the media circus worse.

Why Door Entry Systems could save time and embarrassment

But, whatever Party you plan to vote for and whichever part of Kent you live in, a door entry system could be the difference between a quiet night in with Coronation Street and a series of interruptions from Party representatives desperate to get your vote.

Everyone thinks that intercoms are all about safety, but the screening process can work for a whole raft of everyday situations that you want to avoid.

You see, with a video entry system, the doorbell goes and the screen activates so that you can immediately see who is outside!

You can choose whether to open the door if you know who’s knocking

You may choose to take the opportunity to chat with your local MP and vent your spleen or you may decide to ignore any/all of the candidates. Especially if they are accompanied by a multitude of flashguns, cameras and reporters and you are in your pyjamas!

And that’s the critical part, being able to see who is at the door in advance gives you the option. Once the door has been opened and you realise it is not someone you want to spend any time with, you have to find a way to make excuses.  Most people will want to avoid that situation.

If you can make that choice without actually opening the door, it can save a great deal of time, as well as potential embarrassment.

Of course, Door Entry Systems aren’t just for screening politicians during Elections that happen once every five years, they can be a valuable part of your home security system every day.
