Burglars don't believe in ChristmasOn 13 December last year, the Penniston family were out Christmas shopping. On their return home, they found the front door wide open and all their Christmas presents gone.

Not only was their Christmas ruined but the emotional damage continued for months afterwards with the two children too afraid to sleep in their rooms.

The burglars have never been caught.

A different kind of Christmas intruder

This year, their Christmas has been rather different due to intruders of a different kind.

Mr and Mrs Penniston and their two children returned home from sledging to find a giant Christmas tree covered in fairy lights had suddenly appeared in their living room. It is so large that it pokes out of the roof of the house.

But who are the mysterious benefactors?

Who are the two fairies?

Marks and Spencer released their Christmas advert which featured two fairies named Magic and Sparkle and, not long after, a mysterious Twitter account called @thetwofairies appeared and started tweeting cryptic messages.

Then people started to report random gifts appearing on their doorsteps in response to gift wishes they had left on Twitter.

One user was surprised with a bag of cosmetics after stating she could do with some pampering!

Christmas came early for a small primary school in Landewednack, Cornwall. The school rarely sees winter because the air is too salty to produce snow due to the southerly location.

The fairies redecorated the exterior with fake frost to delight the children, just in time for their winter Christmas projects.

If you know someone who deserves some Christmas cheer this year, tweet @thetwofairies explaining why they should get a festive present.

Burglars don’t believe in Christmas cheer!

Burglars will target homes in the lead-up to Christmas. Why? Because it’s more likely your home will be packed with expensive gifts for them to get their hands on. They don’t care about the emotional trauma they leave behind.

These intruders will go to great lengths to earn some quick cash so follow a few of our simple tips to keep your home burglar-proof this Christmas.

  • Do not display gifts, wrapped or unwrapped, in plain sight of a window
  • Draw all curtains or blinds to prevent an intruder from viewing the inside of your home
  • If you leave your property unattended at night, leave a light or radio on
  • Ensure your home is fitted with a burglar alarm and cctv system

A visible burglar alarm has been highlighted by the Metropolitan Police as a real deterrent.

And with a Home CCTV system installed, you just might discover the real identity of the Two Fairies!
