Massive Canterbury Fire Destroys Around 30 Homes
On Saturday 4th July a huge fire in Canterbury destroyed or damaged around 30 homes.
It is thought that a boiler unit in a small cupboard started the blaze that subsequently spread at an incredibly alarming rate.
The investigation is still ongoing, trying to find out why this fire spread so quickly. However, many people are speculating online about the safety of the buildings themselves, despite being only ten years old.
Of course, we won’t know the real reason that the massive Canterbury fire spread so quickly until the official report comes out.
But, with the current owner planning a complete rebuild in the same style and materials and many new homes in Kent having a similar timber construction, the speculation leads to an uneasy question – could it happen again?
