Maslow’s WHAT?

You have probably never heard of it but, in a few moments, it may well make a considerable amount of sense.

Abraham Maslow was a psychologist who presented his hierarchy of human needs in 1943.

He reasoned that the most basic human need is food and shelter. Without that, we all die. So the most basic need is physiological. Without it, the human race cannot survive. We need food, air and water and, without them, the human body cannot survive.

How does this illustrate the importance of home security?

The next most important need was safety and security.

It is all very well having food and shelter, but if that might be taken away from you, then you are back to square one. So, safety is the second most important human need. Today this includes personal safety, financial security, health, and protection against accidents and illness.

The hierarchy goes on to cover love and belonging, self-esteem and what he calls “self-actualisation” – or becoming all that we are possibly capable of becoming.

Put another way, what he was trying to describe was why we are here on earth.

Heady stuff, indeed.

When it comes to security – You’re on your own!

It is very obvious that after food and shelter, the next most important need that anyone has is security. It is absolutely a basic need, yet it is somewhat strange that many people nowadays do not even stop to consider their personal security.

Unfortunately, when it comes to your security you are on your own.

Yes, there is a police force…but unfortunately, all it can do is to try and catch burglars who have already broken into your home and caused the damage.

It is up to YOU to safeguard your home with security measures such as a burglar alarm, CCTV and security lighting.

Burglars will break into your home at any available opportunity, so it is up to you to make the opportunity as slim as possible.

Fight back against burglars & protect your home

Burglars will always attack “soft” targets. Meaning if your house isn’t protected with obvious security measures, the thieves are going to have a field day stealing your valuables and trashing your home.

If you don’t take care of your own security, no one else is going to do so.

At the very least, you should have a burglar alarm protecting your home – preferably one connected directly to a call centre, or the police. In addition, you could consider CCTV and security lighting. Anything that lessens your chances of a burglary is just a matter of common sense.

The alternative is too uncomfortable to consider.
